Mission Statement: The Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Internal Medicine Residency Program’s mission is to provide a broad spectrum of educational experiences to prepare its graduates for diverse careers in medicine with a focus on ambulatory primary care training. Resident training is embedded in Kaiser Permanente Hawaii's institutional mission of caring for the people of the community of Hawaii under the Quadruple Aim of care delivery: Quality Outcomes, Quality Patient Care Experience, Value, and Improved Clinician Experience.

The Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Internal Medicine Residency Program sets you on the path to a fulfilling, successful career in medicine. Upon finishing your three years of training and experiencing the power of Permanente Medicine, you’ll be well-prepared to pass the ABIM Internal Medicine Board Certification Examination and a career which leverages your comprehensive internal medicine training.

Every resident advances through a competency-based education and evaluation program that emphasizes primary care. Our curriculum focuses on ambulatory aspects of internal medicine, including all major subspecialties. Your mentors are highly regarded physicians of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group and others on our health care team, in partnership with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals.
